Made by a pilot for pilots, “The WARTHOG” Throttle Grip with a three channel COMMs paddle switch and a PTT type switch for AP/DISC. Per an A-10 driver customer requirement, we provide the throttle overlay and switch assembly which is capable of a push FWD to transmit on COMM1, pull AFT to transmit on COMM2 and a spring return resting center position for ICS. The assembly. is manufactured in the USA by Swearingen 3D works of Marion IA., packaged in the USA and distributed by the designer. Everything you order is prepared just for you, only after you order. Upon order, your configuration options are checked and incorporated, final assembly completed, and system functionality checks performed to assure the value and performance I have designed for you.

The WARTHOG configuration now provided to the Vans fleet was made specifically for an IDF-440 COMM1, a Dynon COMM2, both going through a Garmin 345 audio panel. The parent throttle grip is the “Deluxe Cross Country” grip tailored to the configuration supporting COMMS/ICS and AP/DISC. It. was originally custom designed and manufactured for a VANs RV-4 owner (with an RV-8 deluxe throttle quadrant) for the purpose of providing an overlay to the existing one (1) inch throttle handle and with all the switches and system wiring required to provide fingertip electrical functions.

The throttle grip consists of a 5.6 inch 3D printed universal throttle overlay, ergonomically shaped to comfortably rest within the left hand, incorporating palm and finger cutouts. It incorporates prominent inboard and outboard fences to prevent hand slippage off the throttle in a high G or inverted environment, and switch thumb guards for the COMMs paddle switch. The grip slips over the Vans CT-83F Deluxe or CT-84F Deluxe throttle quadrant or any throttle with a 1 inch diameter tube.

The paddle COMMS/ICS switch is contained within the inboard fence of the grip, and is activated by the pad of the left-hand thumb and the AP/DISC switch is activated by the left hand middle finger.. (RV-8 Deluxe Throttle quadrant shown in pictures, not included in sale).

• The "Cross Country" control grip, made from tough ecologically friendly, black 3D printer PLA, is sculptured to fit the left hand and contains an inboard, outboard and thumb switch slip guard. 

• Anti-Rotation Cutout embodied within the outboard portion of the overlay to prevent rotation of the grip on the stock throttle body.

• Throttle Stake added to allow mechanical fastening of overlay to throttle structure to prevent inboard overlay movement on internal throttle structure. Mechanical fastener provided.

• Finish: Military Black Flat Finish over urethane.

•  Throttle Grip contains a spring return to center Paddle switch for hot ICS, and COMMs1 and COMM2 on either side, rated as follows:

• COMMS paddle switch orientation is in a horizontal configuration, thus allowing a COMM1 (FWD, ICS (CTR), COMM2 (AFT).

• The switch is permanently mounted within the grip, wired and provided with 20 inches of 22 AWG, Shielded TEFZEL, four conductor (3.52 mm diameter), functionally tested wire harness for the (ON)-ON-(ON) configuration. The other option with NONE center only requires a three conductor (3.04mm) wire harness.

• Switch Type: SPST - NO, OFF-(ON), (ON)=Momentary

• The AP/DISC switch is mounted at the left hand center position on the front side of the throttle overlay. It is fully wired, and provided with 20 inches of 22AWG Shielded TEFZEL, two conductor (2.95mm Dia.), functionally tested wire harness.
